The main side effect of establishing the Regency Frontier.

Because the Regency could not guarantee the safety of worlds beyond it, massive, large scale population evacuation commenced in 1133, peaking in 1136. Supported by the Regency Navy, which organized convoys of troop transports to bring the refugees to safety within the Frontier.

Initially deposited on "Refugee Worlds" in the Regency's trailing subsectors, the Regency later further moved millions to other worlds, such as the volatile Sword Worlds, and the ihatei-settled worlds of the thinrim. Here the relocatees provided a loyal counterbalance to volatile Sword Word and Aslan populations.

Although the refugees caused by the Abandonment were encouraged to make new lives within the regency, inevitably a large portion of them never got beyond the Refugee Worlds, where organised crime still retains a firm foothold.
