Canopus (star)/meta

Again Canopus is not in its correct position. At some 50 parsecs from earth instead of 96 its apparent magnitude would be -2.04 instead of −0.72 (3.4 times as bright) and the brightest star in the sky, displacing the nearby Sirius.

That is except for the fact the the modified location of Deneb (see Deneb (star)/meta) with a magnitude of -2.2 would still be a bit brighter than Canopus.
