Located in the Oort Cloud of Keng is a small station about a half a light year from the mainworld named Freeport. The station was constructed on a rocky cometary body, has facilities equivalent to an E class starport, and a population of 20,000 people. Freeport was an independent state in its own right in the Antebellum period, probably because of a deal cut with the Imperial government or its megacorporate viceroys, and did not recognize any other authority. That independence became a victim of the Quarantine, and the station received a permanent RQS presence in 1132, though it remains an important stopover point for ships journeying from the Vargr Splinters.
